Sevilla v Juventus [1-2] Report & Ratings

Juventus came out ready winners against Sevilla in their first game in the Peace Cup with goals from Iaquinta and Amauri, but Mauro Camoranesi has picked up yet another injury.

Juventus looked solid and organised as Amauri connected to Alex Del Piero’s corner to open the scoring on 27 mins. Mauro Camoranesi picked up a knock about an hour into the game and was replaced by Vicenzo Iaquinta. The big striker went on to double Juve’s lead as he latched on to a brilliant cross from Zebina to put Juve two goals to the good. A defensive error late on in the game saw Schillaci net a consolation goal for Sevilla, but overall, it was confident and assured performance from the Bianconeri as they start to adapt to Ferrara’s new formation.

Player Ratings:

Manninger – 8/10. A man of the match performance for me, Manninger made a serious of fantastic saves and kept Juventus in the game on numerous occasions. More than capable to deputise for Gianluigi Buffon.

Zebina - 7.5/10. Anonymous at times, but still still managed to deliver the perfect cross for Iaquinta’s goal

Cannavaro - 7/10. It was good to see him taking charge of the back line but he still looks a little off the pace. Made some strong challenges and read the game well but was at fault for the Sevilla goal.

Chiellini - 7/10. A typically solid performance from big Giorgio who went in with some decent tackles and looked confident.

Grygera - 6/10. Doesn’t look capable in his defensive duties and this was another patchy performance.

Camoranesi - 6/10. Didn’t really get a chance to impress due to his injury, but he seems to be adapting well to playing on the right hand side of a 3 man midfield.

Zanetti - 7/10. Fairly anonymous but shielded the back line well with a solid display.

Marchisio - 6/10. Hit the woodwork but didn’t manage to push on from midfield.

Tiago - 7.5/10. Another solid performance in midfield – fought for every ball and managed to provide some nice passes for the target men. Looks to be showing real promise again.

Del Piero – 7/10. His free kicks were far off and aside from his corner/assist for the first goal, he looked a little off the pace.

Amauri - 7.5/10. Always a threat in the air and duly latched on to Ale’s corner for the first goal. Looked a real threat throughout the game.

Subs

Iaquinta - 7/10. Looked all over the place at first, giving away the ball and misplacing passes. Showed great composure to convert from Zebina’s cross

Molinaro - 6/1. Bought on late to bolster the defence.
